EXTERIOR
This truly exceptional Mazda MX-5 is finished in factory original Racing Silver Metallic, (Code 18G), a cost option when ordered from new. Having covered a verified 13,061 miles, this garaged and cherished example is positively incomparable to most offerings. A pristine bright shine and near impeccable finish will delight even the most meticulous scrutineer. Tiny markings and chips to the lower body are barely even worthy of mention and all trim sections and bumpers are immaculate. The underside reflects garage storage and dry weather use and the perfect wheel arches display the correct rivet markings. The original Mazda Dealer number plates front and rear remain on the car, as does the dealership tax disc holder and factory windscreen stickers. The black canvas hood is in perfect order with a tight fit and the much-improved original glass rear screen is heated. The epitome of a modern classic sports car, preserved to the highest order.

INTERIOR
Trimmed in the standard Black Cloth upholstery, (Code NBO), this interior is exactly how Mazda intended. Everything is co-ordinated and operates perfectly. The flawless seats remain in exceptional order and the urethane steering wheel and gear knob show prominent factory veins only found on extraordinary low mileage examples. The classic sports dashboard houses a cluster of crystal-clear instruments that function precisely and retain a new car feel. The tailored MX5 over mats remain in place and protect the immaculate black carpeting. The untouched tool kit, wheel brace and unused space saver wheel and the tonneau are all present and spotlessly clean in the pristine luggage area. Further originality can be seen in the factory stickers within door apertures and on the rear light clusters. This interior is effectively as good as new!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
To experience driving a well maintained and cared for Mazda MX-5 is a true motoring delight and this 1.6i model is the lightest, most agile of the Mk2 range weighing just 1015kg. The lightweight 1.6i litre 16v DOHC engine sits in a truly immaculate engine bay which will amaze onlookers with a level of perfect originality rarely seen. The engine is lively and power flow very smooth with a top speed of 119mph and 0-62mph in 9.7 seconds. The close ratio short throw gearbox provides light and precise gear changes. Brilliant!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This exceptional Mazda has been upgraded with factory optional Stealth alloy wheels which are in superb order with only a light scratch to each nearside wheel. Quality branded Yokohama 185/60R14 tyres have just been fitted all round in July 2020. Ventilated discs at the front and solid discs at the back install maximum braking confidence.

HISTORY FILE
This amazing example was registered new by Main Dealers, Whichford Mazda of Maidenhead, on the 1st August 1998 which was the first day of the brand new ‘S’ registration. Supplied to first owner, Mr Geoffrey Starling, for his wife with emphasis on simplicity and weight saving, the new vehicle order form confirms the price paid of £16,137. Upon his passing, registered ownership transferred to his wife, Mrs Glennys Starling. The car has always been used as a second weekend car in dry conditions and strictly garaged when not in use.

Despite the very low mileage covered, the history file is very comprehensive with the original Mazda Service Record booklet displaying eleven stamped entries. The most recent service entry was in 2019 at 13,016 miles and a documented cambelt and water pump change was carried out at 11,726 miles. Absolutely all handbooks, manuals and dealership point of sale literature along with three sets of keys are neatly contained in the grey leather Mazda wallet. A further folder containing invoices and MOT certificates dating back to the very first in 2001 fully verifies the mileage. Completing the history file is an original Mazda MX5 range and accessories brochure and even every tax disc has been kept! It is virtually impossible to find in such original, low mileage, low owner and unmolested MX5, and KGF Classic Cars are delighted to be able to present this stunning example to the open market ready for a new lucky custodian.
