SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A preserved and rare Renault 19 1.4 RT Auto with just 17,880 miles from new.

EQUIPMENT
Body colour bumpers, side skirts and wing mirrors, black impact absorbers and bodyside mouldings, integrated front and rear spoilers, laminated windscreen with graded black surround, halogen headlamps, front fog lamps, heat insulating tinted glass, power assisted steering, Ergonomic Pack, electrically operated and heated door mirrors, central locking, electric front windows, tilting/sliding electric glass sunroof, heated rear window, vanity mirrors, map reading light, illuminated cigar lighter, engine oil level indicator, Philip Renault Hi-Fi with stalk control. Factory options; Supergloss metallic paint, 3 speed automatic gearbox.

EXTERIOR
Such a preserved car is a rarity and this 17,880-mile example is worthy of the Renault museum finished in factory original Super Gloss Adriatic Blue, (Code 454). All factory panels are pin straight and the paintwork is preserved in accordance with the ultra-low mileage and looks superb with a deep uniform finish. A light parking rub to the front offside bumper corner and some touched in marks to the front offside wheel arch and boot lid edge are visible. All trim, mouldings, glass and headlamps are undamaged and the clean underside again reflects the very minimal use and garage storage. The supplying dealer Renault sticker and tax disc holder remain with the car and the number plates are original dealer fit too. Very rare, difficult to fault and brilliantly retro.

INTERIOR
The spotless and plush Ravel Velour in Ash, (Code WJ), is showroom perfect with absolutely no visible wear or damage. Quality Richbrook floor mats have protected the immaculate carpet and natural veins to the unworn steering wheel only found on very low mileage cars are clearly visible along with the pedal rubbers which are virtually new. All equipment functions perfectly including the Philips Renault Hi-Fi with stalk control and Renault security cover plate. The boot area is factory perfect and unused along with the jack and wheel brace. A typically sumptuous French interior in all its pristine comfort.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the 1390cc 4-cylinder engine with electronic ignition, a power output of 80bhp is quoted, enough to reach 103mph and 0-62mph in a sedate 16.5 seconds. A spotless and unmolested engine compartment displays all the manufacturer plates, stickers and labels. There is a tiny crack to the grill hidden when the bonnet is shut. The factory optional 3-speed automatic transmission changes gear smoothly and offers a very capable and relaxed drive, typical of a French car.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Four aerodynamic wheel trims are virtually unmarked and incredibly the factory tubeless Michelin MXT 165/70 R13T tyres remain fitted. If regular use is intended it would be prudent to change the tyres for modern items and preserve the original set for shows. Dual circuit hydraulic brakes incorporate servo assistance with discs up front and rear drums with a pressure limiter to offer adequate stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on the 27th June 1994 by Renault Main Dealer, Brian Whiteside of Poole, this immaculate example has covered just 17,880 miles from new! Many years later, Dealer Principle Brian Whiteside himself saw the car advertised and recognised it as a vehicle his dealership has supplied from new. The car was promptly purchased to join his private collection whereby in March 2019 and due to space constraints, it was sold to Renault enthusiast, James Costello. Mr Costello has enjoyed the show scene with the car and even entered the Hagerty Festival of the Unexceptional where the car was featured in the Concours De L’ordinaire due to its amazing original condition, low mileage and provenance! The Festival of the Unexceptional ‘goodie bag’ has been kept which includes the car featured in the programme, card game, car show survival kit and event pass!

The history file consists of the Renault full book pack with all handbooks, guides, dealership literature and the service book with eight stamped entries. A cambelt and water pump change is documented in March 2019. An original Renault 19 sales brochure and two sets of Renault keys and unused original dealer fobs complete the history file. A rare surviving retro Renault in difficult to beat condition.
