TVR Sagaris

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED.

A wonderfully insane TVR Sagaris with just 6,300 miles from new.

MODEL HISTORY
Designed by Graham Browne, the name Sagaris comes from the Greek name of a lightweight battle-axe used by the Scythians and known for its ability to penetrate the armour of its enemies.  TVR Chief Engineer for the Sagaris, Daniel Boardman, was frustrated with well-known TVR build quality issues and sought to meticulously engineer the car to overcome such, as well as designing the car specifically with endurance racing in mind.  This necessitated the ability to drive unencumbered for extended periods of time on a racetrack and involved the use of a multitude of air vents and intake openings and was a requirement of a car in standard form with no modification to the cooling system.  Built in very limited numbers of around 200 cars, (211 according to popular opinion), the Sagaris is widely regarded and quoted in the motoring press as the best TVR ever made and indeed the last before closure of the TVR assembly line in Blackpool, England.  Further model information and statistics can be read about the Sagaris on the TVR Car Club website here.

EQUIPMENT
Hand laid glass reinforced polyester resin body, power-coated tubular EN36 backbone chassis, integrated FIA roll cage, integrated steel impact bars in doors, curved transparent rear spoiler with machined aluminium brackets, tinted glass, Hydratrak limited slip differential, frameless door windows, programmable digital instrumentation, machined aluminium trim finishing, leather trimmed dashboard, electric door and boot release, electric mirrors, electric windows, alarm and engine immobiliser, Sagaris tread plates, remote locking.  Factory options; Close ratio gearbox, air conditioning.  Dealer options; Armourfend body protection film, T350 leather seats.

EXTERIOR
Finished in original TVR Highland Grey Spectraflair, (Code P160), the awesome pearlescent paint finish reacts to changing light trajectories to create a ‘Chameleon’ effect against the curvaceous body lines.  The finish is near perfect and commensurate with the 6,300 miles covered by this outstanding showpiece.  The aggressive styling is arguably the wildest amongst its TVR brethren and the sculptured bodywork, huge air intakes and curved transparent rear spoiler are a less than subtle hint towards the extremities of this cars capabilities.  All trim sections, glass and badges are as new and the Armourfend body protection film applied to the front, sides and door mirrors have protected against stone chips.  The underside including the power-coated tubular chassis are in amazing order.  A stunning unmolested example resonant of its low mileage credentials.

INTERIOR
The quilted hide upholstery with contrasting white stitching looks incredible and the style is continued into the padded and curvaceous fascia and door trim.  This request cost the owner £2,195 and was carried out by Hexham Horseless Carriages.  Beautiful internal switchgear and controls are machined from solid aluminium and the programmable digital instrumentation is clear and perfect in function.  A typically mad and ostentatious interior with all the TVR wizardry and sporting prowess exactly as the manufacturer intended.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
At the heart of this ferocious TVR Sagaris is the all-aluminium Speed Six straight six engine of 3996cc displacement.  Developing a thunderous 400bhp and 310 ft lbs of torque in a vehicle weighing just 1078kg, performance is truly a white-knuckle experience to set the pulse racing with 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds and a top speed of 195mph!  The split-stage engine covers lift to reveal the Sagaris’ throbbing heart and the pristine engine bay displays all build plates and TVR body number.  The intoxicating TVR thunderous rumble through the huge standard side swept exhaust pipes in immensely satisfying.  The factory upgraded five speed close ratio manual transmission offers direct short throw changes and the spherical aluminium gear knob is a superb finishing touch.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The TVR Spider wheels with TVR inscription and centre caps incorporate 18in rims all round and are beautifully preserved in perfect original condition.  Matching Goodyear Eagle F1 255/35 ZR18 tyres have masses of tread remaining.  The huge 322mm front and 298mm rear disc brakes are visible through the large spoke openings and the ornate black callipers with yellow TVR inscription are perfect.  Following the philosophy set down by TVR owner, Peter Wheeler, who believed that driver aids promoted over-confidence and complacency and against European Union guideline, there are no electronic safety aids to tame this beast.  You have been warned!

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 22nd July 2005 by TVR Main Agents, Hexham Horseless Carriages, this example, Body Code 121, has covered a mere 6,300 miles from new and remains entirely original and factory standard.  Placed into temperature controlled storage and elevated when not in use, the vehicle went back to Hexham Horseless Carriages to be recommissioned in 2012 with 1,927 miles.  Annual MOT history exists throughout and since this point a further three services have been carried out by TVR Specialists, the last by the supplying dealer again at 4,869 miles.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The TVR Cerbera is the first model to be driven by TVR’s own engine, a 75-degree V8 with a flat-plane crank. Peter Wheeler informed all that “from the bottom-half of the engine to the heads is exactly as you would see in current Formula One engines.”  The result was dubbed the “Speed Eight” (official designation ‘AJP8’) after Al Melling, John Ravenscroft and Peter Wheeler.  Specified in the most desirable guise, the 4.5 litre 420bhp version in a car weighing just 1140kg was enough to propel it from 0-60mph in 3.9 seconds and on to a top speed exceeding 190mph.  Regular maintenance and expert owned ensures optimal performance.  The five speed manual transmission offers direct short throw changes and the spherical aluminium gear knob is a superb finishing touch.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Unique to the Cerbera 4.5 are the 8x17inch front and 8.5x17inch light alloy wheels sporting Toyo Proxes 235/40 ZR17 and 255/40 ZR17 tyres respectively with ample tread.  Powerful aluminium four-piston AP Racing calipers operate on huge ventilated discs on all four corners capable of taming the explosive performance on offer and bringing the car to halt in 2.8 seconds from 60mph.
