EXTERIOR
The third-generation Toyota Supra was the first generation of the model where bonds with the Toyota Celica were completely cut, the preceding two generations being longer and wider derived versions of the smaller Celica. This beautiful and unspoilt example has thankfully avoided the common fate of modifiers and drifters wanting to exploit the powerful rear wheel drive capabilities. Finished in original Toyota Super Red II, (Code II 3E5), the gorgeous paintwork boasts a deep shine and uniform finish throughout. All factory panels are straight and free from corrosion. The front passenger lower plastic trim has warped slightly and light markings in line with age and use are visible and include touched in frontal chips to the driver’s door edge. The supplying Toyota dealer rear screen sticker and number plates remain fitted with a small crack to the front plate. A gorgeous UK example in super condition.

INTERIOR
Trimmed in the plush Medium Grey Cloth upholstery, (Code FH12), this interior is exactly how Toyota intended, even down to the working Toyota 5199 stereo cassette. The sports seats are hugely supportive and comfortable with unworn fabric and firm bolsters. A small mark to the driver’s seat base in visible. The electronic adjusters to the driver’s seat lumbar and bolsters operate perfectly to find just the right setting and to clamp you in for spirited cornering! All functions and controls operate perfectly, including the air conditioning, and the gauges and dials provide concise readings, just as you would expect from Japanese engineering. ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This high-performance sports car is factory fitted with the Toyota 7M-GE 24V straight -six engine developing 201bhp at 6000rpm and 254Nm torque at 4800rpm, with a top speed of 138mph and 0-60mph in 8.0 seconds. The engine bay is very clean and totally standard and displays the correct factory finish with all original labels, under bonnet sticker, plates and stampings to the bulkhead and slam panel. The A340E automatic ECT 3-speed plus overdrive transmission with lock-up torque converter operates perfectly and offers sublime cruising.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This Toyota Supra retains its factory fitted 16” alloy wheels which are shod all-round in premium brand Pirelli 225/50 ZR16 tyres with excellent tread remaining. The wheels look superb with no kerb damage whatsoever. The full tool kit and jack are both unused and remain in their separate Toyota storage bags and the original factory Goodyear Eagle VR50 tyre remains in the spotless luggage area. HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 9th November 1989 by Main Dealer, Lingfield Toyota Centre in Surrey, a new car sales invoice in the history file for £16,301.02 is made out to Mr Ecclestone who purchased the car brand new after part exchanging his 1987 Celica GT. Mr Eccelstone cherished the car for 13 years when ownership then transferred to his wife Doreen who owned it for a further ten years. Since 2012 there have been just two further keepers, both family members with the last being the Nephew of the original owner and caring for the car since 2013 preserving it exactly in the manner Toyota intended.

The neatly presented and chronologically organised history file contains a large collection of service invoices and MOT certificates dating back to the early 1990’s. The most recent documented service was carried out in June 2021 at 57,311 miles. The original Toyota book pack contains the stamped service record, handbook, supplements and dealership literature as well as two sets of keys. Completing the history file is a Toyota Sports range brochure from 1989 featuring the Supra, Celica, MR2 and Corolla GTi. This astonishing example, one of the final Mk1 cars on a G prefix, was registered new on 26th January 1990 by Toyota Main Dealer, Ashley Smithy Garage of Altrincham. A new car sales invoice in the history file for £12,500 is made out to a Mrs Glenys Cook who purchased the car brand new. Mrs Cook cherished the car for over 21 years where, upon her sad passing, ownership transferred to her dedicated Husband Denis. EXTERIOR
This range topping ultimate performance First Generation Celica is the rare and very desirable GTV model presented in immaculate condition. Adopting the “coke bottle styling” and finished in gloss Toyota Green, (Code 614), the finish is sensational. Features such as the raised bonnet air flutes and GTV decals contrast beautifully against the colour and the all chrome has a mirror finish. Perfectionists will be pleased to see correct fitment items such as the Kato halogen headlamps and brake and turn signal “bubble” lenses. Wheel arch apertures and the underside is spotlessly clean and detailed to a show standard. This is a very special car, unmodified and excels in all aspects. A real collectors item.

INTERIOR
Being the high performance GTV variant the interior is supposedly less luxurious to reduce weight but is still very well appointed and has high specification. Stunning Black contoured front bucket seats with integral headrests are pristine along with the rest of the interior. The vinyl leatherette covered instrument panel gear knob and steering wheel along with the deep pile floor carpeting show no wear and all instrumentation including the Jeco electric clock works. The boot area is spotless with the Celica tool roll and jack in secured in the correct place. Simply fabulous.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The jewel in the Celica line up is the 1600cc 2T-G Twin Cam engine equipped with Solex Mikuni 40mm DCOE sidedraft carburettors to produce 124bhp at 6400rpm. Lifting the bonnet will draw gasps of amazement with a meticulously detailed and factory correct engine bay. All bolts, clips and fasteners have been replated. The original metal identification plate slightly tarnished provides all the numbers confirming rare GTV specification. Fitted with the 5F1 first in the series of 5 speed manual gearboxes the changes are light and precise. Perfect.

WHEELS, TYRES, BRAKES & SUSPENSION
Immaculate pressed steel mags with the correct chrome Toyota centre caps and embellishers are shod in branded tyres all round with ample tread. Front disc brakes and rear drums with auto adjuster help prevent locking up of rear wheels under heavy braking and a tandem master cylinder with a vacuum booster provides good braking. Being the high performance GTV version the vehicle is fitted from factory with firmer suspension for better handling and is all beautifully detailed.

HISTORY FILE
This First Generation TA22 Toyota Celica is incredibly rare being the GTV model offered exclusively with performance enhancements from new and is the ultimate Japanese Domestic Market, JDM factory car. Arriving in the UK in July 2008 through JCW International Ltd and sourced for Mr Gerald Mcdaid, a Japanese car fanatic desperate to find the Holy Grail. The sum of £4,660 was paid for a non-runner but factory correct car and the next seven years was spent restoring this now pristine example. Highly regarded amongst the Toyota community with awards from the Toyota Enthusiasts Club at the TEC National 2016 for Best Restoration. This car is a real testament to Geralds, affectionately known as Ged to family and friends, vision, passion and dedication to own one of the best Toyota Celicas in existence. KGF Classic Cars were honoured when approached by the family to find Ged’s pride and joy a new home after his sudden passing.

All the handbooks and a service book supplied new with the car are still present along with the Toyota comprehensive tool kit and spare keys. One for the perfection seeking collector appreciative of rare Japanese performance vehicles.
