This outstanding and incredibly rare Hyundai Scoupe is finished in factory original Ruby Red Metallic, (Code XB), and has covered just 23,132 miles with one owner from new. The paintwork is exceptionally good and boasts a deep uniform shine and all panels are pin straight with no damage. The bumpers and trim sections are in superb order and originality seekers with be pleased to see supplying dealer number plates, rear screen sticker and tax disc holder as well as all factory fitted glass. Close scrutiny will reveal a touched in rub to the front offside bumper corner and a small scrape to the nearside plastic sill trim. All original light clusters crystal clear and the door apertures are spotless. Quite possibly the best remaining example in existence and a real retro rarity!
The MVi specification cloth upholstery in Grey, (Code AQ), is commensurate with the incredibly low mileage and spotlessly clean. The fabric to the seats and door cards is free from rips or tears and the seats remain firm and shapely. The carpets are pristine having been protected since showroom handover by Hyundai tailored rubber over mats and the headlining is as new. The quirky driver inclined dashboard is in perfect condition and all controls and functions operate perfectly including the factory fitted Hyundai stereo cassette. A virgin cigarette lighter confirms the car has never been smoked in and this lovely coupe interior is almost as fresh as its showroom handover day in 1995!
ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Powered by a Mitsubishi sourced four-cylinder SOHC 12 valve engine, this 1495cc unit develops 87bhp and 128Nm maximum torque. Time proven Mitsubishi mechanicals and the very low mileage mean this example, also benefiting from a service in November 2021, runs and drives perfectly with superb reliability. The engine bay is incredibly clean and displays factory PDI dabs and bright stickers. The factory optional 4-speed automatic transmission with overdrive operates perfectly for relaxed coupe cruising.
WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The factory fitted 5J x 14 pressed steel wheels are dressed in the original and immaculate full wheel covers and brand-new premium brand Uniroyal 185/60 R14 tyres have been fitted in November 2021. The full-size spare wheel sits in the very clean lower boot floor alongside the original Hyundai tool roll and jack. Power assisted brakes have recently been inspected, cleaned and serviced and bring the car to a steady and straight-line stop.
Registered new on the 15th September 1995 by Hyundai Main Dealer, Vernon Haddock Cars Ltd of Colchester, the one and only keeper was a Mrs Bell who has owned the car for over 26 years and covered just 23,132 miles from new! Despite the very low mileage, a comprehensive service history consists of the original service book containing 14 stamped entries, the most recent having just been carried out in November 2021. All handbooks, guides and dealership point of sale literature are in the Hyundai document wallet and there is even a Scoupe range brochure. A separate file of invoices and previous MOT certificates dating back to 1999 complete the history file.
An incredibly well preserved and dare to be different modern classic car, ready for reliable retro motoring and a future star at the Festival of the Unexceptional!
MOT July 2022, HPI Clear.
