INTERIOR
Luxury, space and comfort were this models strengths that can still be appreciated today when seated inside this clean well-appointed example. The deeply padded blue cloth upholstered seats are fully adjustable including height for the driver and does show wear still being the original material. Incredible detail can be witnessed in all aspects from the chrome seat buttons to the perfect matching blue door cards finished in three material types. A Datsun sports steering wheel is fitted and the original steering wheel is present. Specification is high even by today’s standards and neat features such as the clock with sweeping second hand and date display still function. Deep pile blue carpeting has been protected by genuine wool Cedric carpet mats front and rear and the headlining, fake wood trim and padded dash are undamaged. The stainless steel Nissan sill covers to both sides are fitted and the boot area is huge, clean and still retains the original vinyl flooring. An uprated sound system is fitted with a period head unit. Banging.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Being the GX variant, this example is fitted with the most powerful of the 1998cc in-line six cylinder L20 engines with twin SU carbs and an overhead camshaft. Refined willing performance of six cylinders makes this an absolute joy to cruise in and the precision built four-speed all-synchromesh gearbox is light and easy. 125BHP is stamped on the original metal identification plate and a top speed of 103MPH is quoted. Opening the bonnet will please show goers with a clean, very smart appearance.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
JDM 14″ SSR Speed Star racing rims with gold centres and polished chrome edges are in excellent condition shod in matching Falken 185/60 R14 tyres. They help create the perfect look on uprated and slightly lower suspension to improve handling while maintaining comfort. A power assisted braking system with large discs at the front and self-adjusting drums at the rear provides really effective stopping power with the minimum of effort.

HISTORY FILE
Nissan’s president, Katsuji Kawamata, had recently been reading Frances Hodgson Burnett’s novel Little Lord Fauntleroy, and was so enamoured with the first name of the hero, Cedric Errol, that he deemed it entirely appropriate to name the car as such. This 1974 Japanese Domestic Model is the third generation 230 Series and the desirable performance GX model. It produced just 25BHP less than the Datsun 240Z. Imported into the UK in July 2015, the Export Certificate confirms a mileage of 81,000km, (50,331 miles) and the vehicle has now covered 51,991 miles. Cared for since September 2015 by car classic car fanatic, Mr Neville, this example has enjoyed various shows while his son, proprietor of a car detailing business, maintained the excellent appearance. Fashionably retro and super cool this this dare to be different 1970’s machine will be the star attraction on every journey!
