Full description
A stonking Ford Escort RS Cosworth Luxury with only 25,549 miles.
The Ford Escort RS Cosworth was a sports derivative and rally homologation special of the fifth generation Ford Escort. It was designed to qualify as a Group A car for the World Rally Championship.  It was available as a road car from 1992-96 in limited numbers from Ford’s Specialist Vehicle Engineering, (SVE), team.  It combines the hand-assembled engine expertise of Cosworth and the coach-building crafts of Karmann.  In order to accommodate the larger Cosworth engine and transmission Ford developed the car around the chassis and mechanicals of its predecessor, the Sierra Cosworth.  A very rare car with only 7,145 examples being produced.  (Source Wikipedia, 1995 Edition One RS Brochure and the RS Owners Club).
Body colour front bumper, louvred bonnet air intakes, wing air extraction grilles, aerodynamic rear wing with lower boot spoiler, electro-luminescent instrument cluster, oil pressure gauge, turbo gauge, voltmeter, quartz digital clock with ambient temperature, delayed courtesy light, map reading lights, glove box illumination.  Factory Options: Luxury Pack comprising of; Opening rear quarter windows, electrically operated and heated door mirrors, ‘Quickclear’ heated windscreen, heated washer jets, three-spoke leather covered steering wheel, central double locking, tailgate release, lights on warning, rear centre armrest, rear head restraints, sunroof, electric windows.  Air conditioning, CD player model 2040.
The striking exterior of this Escort RS Cosworth is stunning finished in desirable Radiant Red, (Code P 2).  The paintwork boasts a professional detailed shine from the smooth polished exterior.  All exterior trim is in excellent order including the lights, badges, glass and rubbers.  The black lower splitter has been replaced with a carbon effect item along with a tailpipe heat protector and later Mk6 door handles all for aesthetical reasons.  Photographs reveal a programme of cleaning to the underside again for aesthetics.  One for the blue oval fanatic and a real show stopper.
The interior of this Escort Cosworth is a very special place to be.  The Recaro seats are finished in optional Raven perforated Leather with virtually no visual imperfections.  The cut-pile carpets are perfect and have been protected by Graham Goode carpet mats since 1998.  At this time stainless steel sill plates were fitted again by Graham Goode.  The comprehensive and sophisticated instrumentation has beautiful dials with black detail on a white background.  The vehicle is fitted with the optional and very rare air conditioning and Ford 2040 CD player so with the Luxury package, represents full specification.  The boot area is pristine and houses the factory fitted space-saver spare wheel and correct jack.  Very special and representative of the low miles covered.
The Cosworth YBP engine warrants little introduction and in March 1998 when the vehicle had covered just 9,576 miles it was entrusted to the professional services of Graham Goode Racing for the popular GGR Level 2 305bhp upgrade.  This is still fitted today providing exhilarating and time proven reliability.  In recognition of the quality of workmanship the vehicle was sold as an Approved Ford by Main Dealers Sleaford Motor Co.Ltd in March 1999.  All invoices in the history file for such works are present.  The permanent Ferguson four wheel drive system with 34/66% front/rear power split mated to a MT 75 5-speed gearbox provides excellent stopping power.
Genuine Ford RS 8 X 16” five soft-spoke alloy wheels built by Ronal are pristine shod in Good Year F1 tyres all-round with ample tread.  Electrically-controlled ABS anti-lock system with two microprocessors and ventilated front and rear discs offer immense stopping power combined with Koni adjustable suspension.
Built at the Rheine Assembly Plant in Germany in December 1995 and registered new on the 31st May 1996 by Ford RS Dealers, Sleaford Motor Co. Ltd this example was one of the last 175 to be built with production officially ending in January 1996.  A colossal history file waits to be presented to the new owner including every MOT certificate from when the vehicle was three years old to warrant the mileage of just 25,549 miles. Cherished by all enthusiast owners including the last custodian Mr Mineeff of eight years.  Within a fortnight of acquisition he booked the car into Graham Goode for a full inspection and an email in the history file from them states ’more good news in the fact that we can’t find a whole lot wrong with the car either.’  All documents are neatly filed in date order with the last invoice dated 12th December 2017 where the car had a full service including the cambelt.  The original book pack and service book are included and contained within the blue Ford A5 wallet.  A full set of spare keys are present including the red master key.  The vehicle is fitted with a Trackstar.
