SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

An astonishing Mk1 Mazda MX-5 Harvard Special Edition with 8,091 miles.

EQUIPMENT
Laminated windscreen, retractable halogen headlamps, bright finish door handles, colour keyed bumpers and outer mirrors, colour keyed mud guards, rear tonneau, side impact beams, tachometer, urethane gearknob, bucket seats, interior light, cigar lighter and illuminated ashtray, locking glovebox, locking centre storage box.  Harvard Special Edition features: Silver Stone metallic paint, 15inch alloy wheels, chrome brace bar, leather interior, wood trim, Clarion CD audio, Momo leather steering wheel, power steering, scuff plates, Harvard badging and floor mats.

EXTERIOR
This collectable Mazda MX-5 is one of just 500 examples all finished in classic Silver Stone metallic, (Code 3L).   Preserved with such low miles and cossetted storage the paint finish is spectacular and factory original with only a tiny mark to the drivers door barely noticeable.  Exhibitionists will be amazed at the clean underside with factory paint dabs and wheel arch spot welds still visible.  The black canvas hood is in perfect order with a tight fit and the rear window is crystal clear with no crease marks.  The correct special edition badges remain unmarked.  Mazda museum quality.

INTERIOR
The interior is trimmed in luxurious burgundy leather with grey piping, (Code NA3) and is exactly how Mazda intended being showroom fresh with no wear.  Purists will be stunned that the exclusive Harvard carpet mats are still in their polythene wrapping and all factory stickers remain attached including the rear carpet sticker often lost on the first vacuum.  Prominent veins on the Momo leather steering wheel and urethane gearknob are indicators only found on very low mileage examples, and the walnut effect trim has one minor mark.  The chrome scuff plates still have some of the factory protective film on them.   The tonneau cover, tool kit, jack, wheel brace and covered space saver wheel are all present, spotlessly clean and in the case of the tonneau cover still in the manufacturer packaging.  Incredible.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The lightweight 1.8 litre 16v DOHC engine sits low and behind the front axle to offer a low centre of gravity and produces 130bhp enough for a 0-60mph in 8.6secs and a top speed of 123mph.  Display perfection is guaranteed with all factory markings still present such as red paint dabs on the brake unions and the gold anodised components still shine brightly.  The close ratio short throw gearbox provides light and precise gear changes.  A new Mk1 MX-5 experience.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This exceptional Mazda has unique unmarked factory fitted 15inch alloy wheels which are shod in matching Bridgestone 195/50 R15 tyres.  The 255mm ventilated discs at the front and solid 251mm at the back install maximum braking confidence.  The brake calipers clearly visible through the wide spokes still maintain their silver factory coating.

HISTORY FILE
Purchased new by Mr Stephen Dawes on the 28th May 1997 through Mazda UK Ltd on the Special Forces programme, the car was subsequently driven to Belgium where it had its 600 mile inspection at Mazda Main Dealers, Garage Aldo.  An accompanying invoice and service stamp act as verification.  Both Mr Dawes and the car returned to the UK just four months later whereby the owner continued his international military career having little time to enjoy the Mazda.  Despite this, carefully and chronologically filed documentation reveals virtually every MOT from the first in 2000, when the car was three years old to the latest advisory free certificate, enabling the mileage to be warranted.  Sold in 2016 to his brother, Mr Richard Dawes, this car has only ever had two family owners.  A major service was carried out in September 2016 and all documentation, handbooks and a new car sales brochure remain.  A full spare set of keys remain unopened in a polythene bag with leather Mazda key fobs.

Virtually impossible to find in such original, low mileage and unmolested condition, this car is sure to delight the fanatical collector and is perfectly suited to an enthusiast wanting to experience fun and reliable classic motoring, just as Mazda intended when new 20 years ago!
