SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A virtually extinct model, a Ford Fiesta Mk2 1.4S with just 44,106 miles.

EQUIPMENT
Bumpers and wide bodyside mouldings with red inserts, over-riders, two-tone paint scheme, halogen headlamps, long range driving lamps, digital header mounted clock, anti-burst door locks, storage compartment under rear-floor, two speed plus intermittent wipe, tailgate wash/wipe, heated rear window, tachometer, trip recorder, sports type steering wheel, cigar lighter, Self-Seek ESRT 32 PS stereo cassette, joystick speaker balance control, illuminated interior controls.  Factory Options;  Black paint, tilt-or-remove screened glass sunroof.

EXTERIOR
This incredible rare surviving and almost forgotten 1.4S model was second only to the XR2 in the sporting stakes, however far fewer of this model now remain.  The paintwork finished in optional Ford Black (code A7) has a glossy mirror shine with a uniform polished finish, and only slight imperfections can be seen upon close inspection.  Structurally superb, the underside and panels are damage free and there is no sign of the all too common sub-standard repairs.  The standard trim sections, bumpers and decals remain correct and in immaculate order.  A very special sporting classic Fiesta preserved just as Ford intended.

INTERIOR
The interior of this remarkable example is beautifully clean and factory standard in every respect.  The Tracer/Raven cloth trim (code LV) is clean and largely wear free with some fading evident, and a miniscule hole in the driver’s bolster is apparent, but virtually undetectable.  The colour-keyed velour carpeting and perforated headlining are both pristine.  All switchgear is functional and the soft finish dashboard undamaged.  The bank of three switches to the right of the steering wheel, whilst fully functional, have come loose from the secure housing.  The header mounted digital clock retains the correct grey LCD display and the original working Ford radio/cassette (model ESRT 32 PS) remains in place.  The hugely difficult to source original trimmed parcel shelf is intact, straight and complete with the correct rubber hangers.  Simple, sporting and superb fun!

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The lively free-revving lean burn 1392cc OHC engine develops 75bhp at 5600rpm.  In such a featherweight car it enables 0-60mph in 10.8 seconds and a top speed of 102mph, with a smile on your face a standard feature!  The engine bay is clean, unmolested and displays factory plates and stickers.  The smooth five speed synchromesh gearbox with remote shift is light and exact, a joy to use and that unmistakable Fiesta exhaust note makes this car truly addictive!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Sporty and unique pearl white full wheel covers are standard specification on the 1.4S and all four are in pristine undamaged condition.  Matching Michelin 165/65 R13 have masses of tread remaining and the spare wheel is correctly housed below the boot floor where factory stickers remain displayed.  The dual line servo assisted brakes with front discs and self-adjusting 7.0” rear drums offer ample stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by Ford main agents and registered on the 14th May 1987, this superb example has covered just 44,106 miles with only three former keepers.  The rarity of this 1.4S model is immense with a reputed mere 18 licensed as at the last quarter of 2014 (source www.howmanyleft.co.uk).  Considered the lesser sporting model against the XR2 at the time, this car now represents a scarcely surviving collectors piece and must not be missed.
