EXTERIOR
This stunning unmolested MK1 Golf GTi is finished in classic Diamond Silver Metallic, (Code L97A).  The paint finish is simply impeccable with a beautiful detailed shine and uniform presentation.  All factory panels are pin straight displaying linear and even shut lines.  Faint and very minimal touched in chips to the leading bonnet edge do not offend.  The rubbers side mouldings, lights and all other body trimmings are perfect and scuff free and the original green tinted glass is security etched.  The identification sticker on the boot cross member is present and has the vital ‘Campaign’ option codes of 707 and 750 matching the vehicle data sticker in the service book.  Campaign specification trim and decals are exactly correct and remain in remarkable order, including the special edition specific fuel filler cap with spring loaded cover.  An incredibly well preserved and cherished example, very special.

INTERIOR
Body-hugging reclining sports seats trimmed in original black/white check design (code KM) remain in remarkable condition with no wear to the fabric or deterioration to the seat structure.  The matching black headlining is clean and intact.   The carpeting, door cards and all other interior trim sections are pristine, clean and unworn.  The correct smaller door lock pins with indent to the top and the leather bound steering wheel are Campaign specific and further uphold this cars true correct identity.  All the controls housed in the pristine fascia work as they should including the multi-function digital computer.  A spotless boot area houses the full size alloy spare, original jack and wheel brace and an unmolested rear parcel shelf, although one of the rubber hangers has snapped.  A classic retro hot hatch interior, wonderfully preserved.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
This iconic car is in tremendous mechanical order and really boasts what Mk1 GTi ownership should be about – marvellous fun!  The engine produces 112bhp at 5800rpm and 109lbs.ft of torque at 3500rpm, enough to sprint to 60mph in 8.2 seconds and achieve 114mph.  Renowned for sheer driving pleasure, this Mk1 Campaign GTi does not disappoint.  The detailed engine bay is spotlessly clean with original factory stickers and the identity plates display the correct chassis numbers for a Campaign model.  The 5 speed sports gearbox is precise and is a joy to use.  It is easy to understand how this car started the hot hatch phenomenon.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This superb Golf GTi is fitted with the unique, Campaign only, and highly desirable 6J x 14 Pirelli alloy sports wheels with correct larger ‘P’ cut out sections and smaller 7mm gaps.  All wheels remain in pristine condition and are shod in correct Pirelli P6000 185/60 R14 tyres.  The servo-assisted diagonally divided dual-circuit braking system with discs in front and drums at rear require firmer action than a modern equivalent but operate exactly as they should.

HISTORY FILE
A simply incredible history file.  Registered with a correct ‘A’ prefix for Campaign models on 10th November 1983 by Volkswagen Main Dealer Colindale Service Station of London, this enthusiast owned example has had just four former keepers, all of whom have upheld the service record impeccably.  Two original service record booklets, the first having run out of space display many stamped entries, majority being VW Main Dealer and remaining specialist.  Documented cambelt changes, the last being in 2013 at 127,771 miles and again carried out a VW Main Dealers will give the next owner much reassurance and help to illustrate how the fastidious serving has never been compromised.  The last VW service was in November 2014 and a service reminder sticker is neatly placed on the door shut dated November 2015.  Furthermore, a colossal and immaculately presented history file includes masses of receipts, services invoices and every single MOT certificate from the cars third birthday to fully document the 135,966 miles covered.

The previous keeper having purchased the car in 1999 is a lifelong VW enthusiast who remarkable kept a hugely detailed and disciplined log of every journey he made including date, mileage, fuel costs and journey comments!  No less than 33 pages and 462 entries are stated!  His utter love and devotion for the car is clear to see in its condition which represents a vehicle having done a fraction of the mileage.

The original VW Dealer blue document holder is also with the car and contains all the owner’s manuals and instruction pamphlets.  A sheer collectors dream in every sense.
