Full Description

SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

An iconic two-stroke UK Yamaha RD125LC with matching numbers.

EQUIPMENT
Quarter faring and under-cowl, Speedometer, tachometer, temperature gauge, ignition switch incorporating steering lock, turn signal switch, headlight switch, dimmer switch, neutral indicator, horn, rear footrests, fuel valve, helmet holder.

EXTERIOR
Finished in white the appearance of this successful 1980’s motorbike is instantly a hit and is presented in clean condition. The plastics and decals are sharp and all the switches, lights and controls work perfectly. The petrol tank has a lovely glossy shine and the frame is without damage. The seat has no rips and the bikini faring and front screen have none of the usual stress fractures. The handlebar grips show wear. A fabulous piece of Yamaha two-stroke history.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Being an UK 12A restricted bike, this liquid-cooled 123cc single-cylinder power unit delivers 12.2bhp at 7,500rpm and 8.68 ft lbs at 7000rpm, enough to allow a top speed of 70mph. Incredibly it still has the original factory engine and the number stamped into the engine matches the frame number, both clearly visible. The component engine parts are clean and present very well. The close-ratio six speed gearbox operated via a slick, remote linkage offers fast and sure gear changes. (Please note the bike has formed part of a static display for many years and although fully operational, is being sold requiring full recommissioning).

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The RD125LC is fitted with the same stylish cast-alloy ‘italic’ wheels as bigger models such as the RD250LC and RD350LC and are presented in very good condition. 2.75–18 front and 3.00-18 rear tyres are fitted with ample tread. Hydraulic disc front brake and dustproof/waterproof rear drum brake combine to provide confident, controlled braking in all weather conditions.

HISTORY FILE
Forming part of a collection with a wonderful display of memorabilia including illuminated Yamaha showroom signs this matching numbers UK bike was a must have in Mr Parkers collection. Having owned one new, this 1984 restored example was as close as he could find to his actual bike and having viewed many poor examples this was the only one that met the grade and was duly placed in the collection after a thrash round the block! The object of most seventeen year olds desires, this RD125 brings back happy memories.

Two sets of keys, HPI Clear.
