EQUIPMENT
All steel monocoque body, torsion ally resistant safety cell, impact-absorbing front and rear sections, heat insulating safety glass, laminated windscreen, heated twin washer nozzles, central locking, electric window lifters, pneumatic headlamp range adjust, parking lights, fine burr walnut root cappings, electrically adjustable heated door mirrors, dual zone electronic interior temperature control.  Factory options; front central armrest, metallic paint, paint coat preservation, electric sliding roof, Tempomat cruise control.

EXTERIOR
The imposing presence of the W126 Series, the flagship line for Mercedes-Benz, are instantly recognisable and this 300SE example is a fantastic testament to this design classic.  Finished in factory optional Astral Silver Metallic, (Code 735), the car is striking at any angle and all original panels are straight with even gaps.  All doors close effortlessly with a reassuring thud enjoyed by Mercedes cars of this era.  Minor age related markings are visible upon inspection but hardly warrant a mention.  These include a small chip to the front screen and tiny stone chips to the bonnet.  All trim sections are fully intact with no damage.  Having covered just 64,801 miles under enthusiast ownership, this superb example is preserved to the upper-most standard.  An excellent example synonymous with unrivalled Mercedes-Benz build quality.

INTERIOR
The superbly engineered and beautifully finished cabin space of the Mercedes-Benz W126 is widely renowned for unparalleled build quality.  Ergonomically designed for optimum comfort, the contoured seats trimmed in original Grey Leather, (Code 268), are spotlessly clean and free from notable wear, complimented by the fine burr walnut root cappings.  The seat bases and bolsters remain absolutely firm and have retained all shape.  The door cards, headlining, dashboard, switchgear are perfect, and all functions and controls operate seamlessly.  The original Blaupunkt Casablanca SQR49 stereo remains fitted but not operational along with the Tempomat.  An immensely comfortable and well-appointed interior, built to the highest standard.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with the Mercedes six-cylinder in-line injection unit of 2960cc displacement, the engine produces 188bhp at 5700rpm and 260Nm of torque at 4400rpm.  A top speed of 130mph is quoted with effortless acceleration, more than capable in the most demanding of traffic conditions.  The engine bay is clean and displays all manufacturer plates, stickers and panel stampings.  The four speed automatic transmission features sport and economy modes and operates exactly as the manufacturer intended with smooth changes and positive kick down.  Effortless motoring indulgence.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The original 15-hole alloy wheel rims suit the car perfectly and are well presented with only light markings and scratches visible.  Quality branded 205/65 R15 tyres have good tread remaining.  The pristine boot area houses the spare wheel alongside the original toolkit roll, jack and warning triangle.  Dual-circuit servo braking system with anti-lock assistance (ABS) offers excellent straight line stopping power.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new on the 8th January 1991 by Mercedes-Benz Main Dealer, Rawsons T.M.S Ltd of Kent, this UK example has covered just 64,801 miles from new with only two former keepers.  The first custodian, Mrs Valerie Botting for 20 years, transferred ownership to her son Haydon Botting in 2011.  He enjoyed the car for a further five years for pleasure and weekend use only before selling the car to a dedicated Mercedes enthusiast.  The car has remained in the ownership of appreciative individuals who have preserved the car in totally standard form and upheld the required servicing.  There are 19 stamped entries along with supporting invoices in the original service booklet, which even still has the factory build codes in the rear cover.  All other handbooks, guides and dealership literature remain in the plastic document wallet.  Completing the history file is an original sales brochure and two sets of Mercedes keys.

The Mercedes-Benz W126 line is essentially a byword for outstanding build quality and engineering refinement, and this low mileage example offers truly capable everyday classic motoring for those wishing to appreciate this German marque at its pinnacle level.
