SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A very exclusive BMW E46 Coupe Alpina B3 3.4 S with only 41,854 miles.

MODEL HISTORY
Established as a manufacturer of fine automobiles for the connoisseur, Alpina has thrived since the firm was founded in 1965 by Burkard Bovensiepen. Alpina to this day works closely with BMW and their processes are integrated into BMW’s production lines, thus Alpina is recognised by the German Ministry of Transport as an automobile manufacturer. The building of special automobiles for demanding clientele in small numbers ensures exclusivity. The total UK production of the BMW ALPINA B3 S is 224 (made up of only 35 Coupes of which this example was one of only five made in 2004).

EQUIPMENT
Front spoiler with integrated Alpina badge, rear spoiler, xenon headlights with wash system, heated door mirrors, heated screenwasher nozzles, third high level brake light, front and side airbags, automatic climate control, on-board computer, cruise control, auto headlights and wipers, electric memory seats, heated seats, parking sensors, Harman/kardon sound system, Bluetooth, tool kit. Alpina Specification; 305bhp engine, Alpina Switch-Tronic, Alpina light alloy wheels, Uprated suspension, Alpina blue instrumentation, Myrtle wood with Alpina logo, Alpina floor mats, Alpina door sills, Alpina steering wheel, silver plated production plaque.

EXTERIOR
This very rare sporty automobile is beautiful at any angle finished in the optional and costly Individual colour, Mora Metallic, (Code 359). A uniform gloss shine from cossetted enthusiast ownership, low mileage and indoor storage is immediately apparent. A small touched-in mark to the lower front bumper and a professional stone chip repair to the front screen do not detract from the excellent overall appearance. The unique Alpina front spoiler and rear badges inform the knowledgeable that this is just one of 35 coupes made and benefits from the E46 facelift. All trim, lights and rubber seals are perfect. A car for the connoisseur.

INTERIOR
The driver-orientated ergonomically designed interior showcases exemplary craftsmanship. Finished in optional Champagne Nappa leather with contrast coloured piping, this interior still displays all the vital Alpina features key to establishing authenticity, such as the 180mph blue Alpina instrumentation with red needles and the gold logo discreetly stamped in the Myrtle trim. The condition of all the interior trim is exemplary. The leather sports steering has the vivid blue and green stitching housing the switch-tronic buttons integrated into the reverse side favoured by most. The silver plated production plaque is proudly on display in clean tight headlining reminding the occupants of engineering excellence. All door shuts and apertures are spotlessly clean. A complete unused toolkit is correctly housed inside the pristine boot area. The benchmark for perfect automobiles.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The inline 3.4 litre is an evolution of the B3 3.3 litre engine which places much emphasis on reducing the movement of free masses so extremely light pistons, a bespoke crankshaft and a reworked intake system result in a thumping 305bhp and 362Nm of torque. With a raft of other engineering changes expect 0.60mph in 6.3 seconds and a top speed of 165mph. The incredibly clean engine bay proudly displays the manufacturer’s information plates, Alpina stickers and both the BMW and Alpina chassis numbers. The revolutionary Alpina Switch-Tronic developed in a joint effort with ZF and Bosch constitutes the ideal driving style for any kind of situation and operates seamlessly.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Light alloy wheels with weight-optimised spokes have concealed tyre valves behind lockable Alpina branded light alloy die-cast covers and have been refurbished. Matching Michelin Pilot Sport 225/40 ZR18 upfront and 255/35 ZR18 at the rear and recommended by Alpina were fitted new in June 2018. The brakes are powerful, well weighted, and have a reassuringly firm pedal feel.

HISTORY FILE
To the cognoscenti of British high-performance enthusiasts, the Sytner name is inexorably linked to that of Alpina with this example being registered new on the 24th November 2004 by Sytner Nottingham. Recorded with the Alpina Register as no. 122, this is one of just 35 UK B3 S Coupes made and offers a rare opportunity especially having covered just 41,854 miles. Full BMW Main Dealer history, with the exception on one visit to leading BMW Specialists Munich Legends, is documented. The last service was carried out at 39,944 miles at Sycamore BMW. All handbooks, including the rare Alpina supplementary handbook contained in the leather wallet with green and blue striping often kept back as a souvenir of ownership, are included. Two sets of keys are present. This example is certain to delight the classic BMW aficionado appreciative of the Alpina marque, seeking an unmolested showpiece.
