An exceptional BMW E36 318i Convertible with just 35,167 miles and one owner.

EXTERIOR
This outstanding 318i Convertible is finished in stunning vibrant Bright Red (Hellrot, Code 314). The factory original paintwork boasts a spectacular deep gloss shine and high polished uniform finish. The original panels are beautifully straight and all gaps and shuts are linear. Structurally perfect and true to BMW’s original vision, this unspoilt example is truly exceptional. Aside from very light and minimal stone chips to the bonnet, it is difficult to fault the presentation even upon very close scrutiny. The original supplying BMW dealer number plates remains fitted to further emphasise the cars outstanding preserved state. The fabric folding roof is pristine with no damage to the covering or the headlining, and the optional colour coded hard top is as new. This enthusiast owned cherished example is without question one of the best and will delight any classic BMW aficionado.

INTERIOR
The unmistakable cockpit of the E36 BMW is designed purely with driver experience in mind. The Grey Cloth interior (code D6TT) is essentially perfect and truly reflects the exceptional low mileage credentials. The carpets have been protected by fitted over mats from new and the door cards are spotless. The wrap around dashboard inclined to the driver is simply perfect and retains the factory matt finish as does the leather trimmed sports steering wheel, all too often lost by years of amateur ‘dressing up’. BMW heritage is clear to see with the unique blue and red stitching to the leather steering wheel and M-Tec emblem which is also on the gearknob. The complete toolkit, first aid kit and warning triangle are present. Arguably as close to a ‘new’ E36 interior as is possible to find.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Displacing 1796cc, the wonderfully quiet and smooth four cylinder unit from BMW produces 115bhp and 168Nm of torque to achieve respectable 0-62mph and top speed figures of 12.5 seconds and 121mph respectively. Ready for bonnet up exhibiting, the spotless engine bay displaying factory plates and stickers will impress the avid detailer. The preferred five speed manual gearbox is light, tight and precise and a joy to use with sporting short throw operation.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Five original sports-spoke II style light alloy wheels are unrestored and virtually flawless. The correct centre caps remain fitted and the wheel stampings are clearly defined. Factory specification Pirelli P6000 205/60 R15 tyres all round have masses of tread remaining and the spare alloy wheel is also unused and shod in the original Pirelli P6000 item. The anti-lock braking system (ABS) incorporating all round discs offers ample stopping power and straight line braking.

HISTORY FILE
Supplied new by BMW Main Agents, Benham BMW of Wolverhampton, on 29th October 1999, this example incredibly has covered just 35,167 miles with just one owner from new. Both the new vehicle order form and the sales invoice remain in the history file to illustrate a purchase price of £25,870 including £1,070 for the Electro-hydraulic folding top. The first and only keeper is a Mr Trevor Smith, an avid car enthusiast who purchased the car having originally had the intention of buying an early E46. Upon visit to his local BMW dealer, this E36 example was offered to him and he loved the colour enough to change his mind!

The history file consists of the original dealer supplied leather wallet containing absolutely every handbook, guide, leaflet and point of sale publication as well as the service booklet. All previous MOT certificates are present to fully verify the low mileage. Mr Smith and his wife kept the vehicle strictly garaged and used it only for recreational purposes along with their other vehicles forming a small classic car collection. This cosseted existence has been instrumental in preserving the vehicles amazing condition and exceptionally low miles.
