SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

An original Ford Capri 1.6LS with an incredible 23,433 miles from new.

EQUIPMENT
Wide section black painted bumpers, black louvered grill, integral front spoiler, four halogen headlamps, laminated windscreen, tilting/sliding steel sunroof, remote control driver’s door mirror, airflow face-level vents, centre console, glovebox with lid, lock and illumination, tailgate wash/wipe, ammeter and oil pressure gauge, tachometer, quartz analogue clock, courtesy lights, perforated grey headlining, front reclining seats, tilting/sliding steel sunroof, Ford RST 21P stereo cassette. Factory options; Boot spoiler.

EXTERIOR
This remarkable and very rare base model Capri LS is finished in Ford Diamond White (code B3). The factory original paint finish has been preserved incredibly well owing to the amazing genuine 23,433 miles covered and careful storage from new. All factory panels are straight with linear gaps, and only very close scrutiny will reveal minuscule age related markings. Worthy of mention is a small undulation to the nearside front wing. Both front wings and the scuttle panel still have the factory stampings clearly defined. The trim sections, glass, lights and badges are as new including the optional rubberised rear spoiler. The underside is free from an excess application of underseal to allow inspection of this cars genuine unmolested appeal. A superbly preserved and unspoilt example of Ford’s iconic Capri, and very rare in basic LS specification. One for the serious enthusiast.

INTERIOR
The interior of this cossetted example is absolutely worthy of the often misused term ‘timewarp’. The ‘Carla’ crushed velour in Navy check colour scheme (code F0) is virtually perfect with no wear, fading or markings, commensurate with the exceptionally low mileage covered. All trim sections are as new including the fully intact dashboard free from cracks and the pin straight uncut rear parcel shelf. All functions and controls operate seamlessly including the Ford RST 21P stereo cassette and quartz clock. Further hints towards minimal usage and devoted care are displayed in the form of the steering wheel and gear knob with natural veins still prominent and the unused cigar lighter. Lifting the boot carpet reveals the original jack, manufacturer stickers and a light coating of protective wax which has been applied by the careful previous owner and easily removed if desired. Simplistic, unspoilt and exactly as Ford intended with none of the Capri magic compromised.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 1593cc OHC unit with single variable venturi carburettor pulls strongly with a power output of 73.5bhp to achieve a top speed of 99mph and 0-60mph time of 13 seconds. The engine bay is beautifully clean with factory wax visible. Attention to detail sticklers and those seeking accuracy will be pleased to note the Motorcraft battery, oil filter and radiator cap as well as all factory plates and stickers intact. The 4 speed gearbox is light and works through the gears precisely, and the clutch feels positive.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
This LS example thankfully still remains fitted with the factory 5.5” steel sports wheels and the common temptation to retro-fit alloys has been avoided. The rims are original un-refurbished items with part number markings displaying the clear definition lost upon repainting. Faint age related markings are minimal and inoffensive. The original Michelin XZX 165 SR13 tyres including the spare are still fitted to further add to the unspoilt appeal. Whilst unworn, the tyres display minor cracking and renewal prior to regular use would be a wise safety precaution. The hydraulic dual-line servo-assisted front discs and rear drums stop the car quickly and in a straight line.

HISTORY FILE
Registered new on 1st May 1984 by Ford Main Dealers Reg Scull Motors Ltd this amazing example has covered a mere 23,433 miles from new. The extensive history file includes the original service record displaying nine stamped entries with additional maintenance records to show conscientious upkeep despite the very low miles covered. Many previous MOT certificates further support the mileage. Dealership supplied handbooks, guides and radio instructions have also been kept. Completing the history file is three sets of keys including the original torch key.

This car has been enthusiast owned and is now ready for the next Capri aficionado.
