SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A superb very early Ford Escort RS Turbo Series 2 with just 60,897 miles

EQUIPMENT
Body coloured bumpers with black insert, body coloured wheel arch extensions, 88 spec tailgate spoiler, halogen headlamps, front driving lamps, cooling vents in bonnet, central door locking, heated rear window, dual-tone horn, tailgate wash/wipe, tinted glass, quartz digital clock, aerial incorporated in rear windscreen, Recaro front reclining seats, 60/40 split rear back rest, tilt/slide glass sunroof, tachometer, electrically operated front windows.  Factory options; remote body coloured door mirrors.  Fitted accessories: Ford RS steering wheel, alarm immobiliser, genuine Ford rubber mats.

EXTERIOR
This spine tingling example is finished in stunning and original Rosso Red, (Code R5).  The finish has a deep, glossy and rich shine, commensurate with the cars low miles and pampered enthusiast keeping.  Needless to say the factory panels are pin straight with uniform gaps and all trim sections and RS decals are as new.  Very rare side protection strips as fitted to early production cars are perfectly intact and along with dealer branded number plates, a rear window sticker and Carello driving lamps.  A few minuscule stone chips to the bonnet are barely visible and many underside components are powder-coated for visual enjoyment.  A small scuff to the rear bumper has been touched in.  A known show piece for the discerning.

INTERIOR
This sensational Escort RS Turbo has a perfect and stylish interior which will delight the nostalgic seeking buyer.  The fully adjustable and supportive Recaro seats show virtually no wear to the Daytona Raven trim.  Matching door cards are pristine with only tiny creases to the ‘A’ pillar trim, a common occurrence on these cars.  The immaculate carpets are protected with genuine Ford rubber mats and have been beautifully preserved with complete fullness to the pile.  All switches, knobs and dials function correctly with the original Ford stereo in situ.  A prized, expensive and very collectable RS steering wheel is fitted and an alarm immobiliser was installed in 1997 to an otherwise factory standard interior.  A truly magnificent example of this legendary fast Ford.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
The 1.6 OHC (CVH) Bosch KE-Jetronic fuel injected engine with a Garrett AiResearch T3 turbo charger produces 140bhp, (8bhp increase over a standard car) thanks to a stainless steel standard looking Magnex exhaust system and in such a lightweight car, the 0-60 dash is dealt with in 8.2 seconds and a top speed of 128mph is achieved.  A beautifully clean engine compartment displays all the factory stickers and plates, and a Motorcraft battery is fitted.  The 5-speed manual Ford BC box with standard 220mm clutch is light, precise and a joy to use.

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
The correct light alloy 6X15 RS wheels remain undamaged with the Ford logo and part numbers raised and visible.  Five matching quality 195/50 R15 Toyo Proxes tyres have masses of tread remaining.  This 1980’s ‘Hot Hatch’ icon stops as well as it goes with the ABS braking system designed in conjunction with Lucus Girling working perfectly.

HISTORY FILE
Manufactured in December 1986 and registered new on the 5th January 1987 by Ford Main Dealer Godfrey Davis (St Albans) Ltd, this rare early example has benefitted from fastidious enthusiast ownership since new enabling it to remain preserved in a fantastic show condition.  A fully documented mileage record can be absolutely verified with a huge collection of invoices from the first supplying dealer to present.  Every MOT from the first in 1990 to the current, is filed in date order along with annual tax discs.  A sub-section in the history file titled ‘Show History’ further cements the high standard of this car tracking the many Ford events it has attended throughout the years with 1st place at the Bristol & Swindon RSOC Show and Shine event.  Original dealership literature from point of sale and two sets of keys are included.  KGF Classic Cars were pleased to sell the car in 2015 to an appreciative Ford fan who is now selling to concentrate on his search for a Sierra Sapphire Cosworth.  All former keepers, (one having owned the car twice!), are without fail dedicated Ford Fans.
