SORRY NOW SOLD – SIMILAR WANTED

A furious Opel Manta i240 Coupe recreation with inner explosive beauty

EQUIPMENT
Manta 400 boot spoiler, Cibie twin headlamps, i240 graphics, safety crumple zones front and rear, remote control driver’s door mirror, deep front air spoiler, sill extensions in body-coloured plastic, rev counter, voltmeter, oil pressure gauge, water temperature gauge, Recaro seats, three spoke padded sports steering wheel, headlamps-on warning buzzer, quartz clock, front door pockets, laminated windscreen, bronze tinted glass all round, opening rear quarter windows.

EXTERIOR
This tremendous Opel Manta Coupe is finished in Polar White, (code 452) and has a beautiful bright gloss finish.  Manta 400 Rally car quad Halogen headlamps, rear spoiler and i240 graphics give this already head turning retro racer a distinctive and very exclusive look.  All the body panels are free from corrosion and no scuffs, bumps or scratches are visible.  A fabulous example ready to excite and thrill!

INTERIOR
Despite powerful performance upgrades the interior remains true to Opel’s original design.      The fully reclining stylish Recaro rally-style front seats are finished in the two tone Anthracite Grey with Burnt Orange check and are very supportive.  The driver’s seat shows some minimal ageing.  The full sports instrumentation giving at-a-glance monitoring works impeccably.  All the headlining is tight and door cards, plastic switches and knobs are damage free and perfect.  A replacement radio stereo cassette player is fitted and the quartz clock keeps time.  A truly 80’s experience.

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Open the bonnet to this creation and smile.  A Vauxhall C20XE Redtop engine built to a high standard with many new internal and external components fitted such as new shells, bearings, piston rings, Bosch fuel pump and Bosch fuel injectors.  156bhp barking through a hand built exhaust supplied and fitted by C+C Exhausts in Glasgow will thrill the driver and spectators and is truly addictive.  To cope with the performance the Getrag gearbox has been rebuilt with new bearings and syncros along with a new SACHS 3-piece clutch.  Phenomenal!

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Rally inspired pristine White Compomotive 7JX15 alloy wheels are shod in four brand new Yokohama 195/50 R15 Prada tyres.  An upgraded braking system from solid to vented front discs from a Cavalier GSI 4X4 give impressive stopping power and install confidence.

HISTORY FILE
This vehicle has only had three owners from new.  The first being Mr Norman Berry who took delivery from Opel Dealers, Boleyn in Plaistow on the 30th November 1984.  Annually serviced, as evidenced by the fully stamped serviced book, until 10 years later, when in 1994 and 68,051, a low part exchange valuation resulted in the vehicle going into storage.  Discovered by Club Rallying enthusiast, Gerald McCafferty, in the 2003 Opel Members Club magazine, he embarked on an eventful journey to create a retro vehicle of childhood longing, the Opel Manta i240.  His goal of wanting classic looks with explosive modern day performance was a difficult challenge but has been wonderfully executed.  Sold to the third owner who has decided to downsize his collection.

A full catalogue of photos from the collection of the car from the first owner to the detailed build process will satisfy the next lucky owner of the amount of work invested in this stunning car.  A mass of invoices, original owner’s documents, two keys and a five page magazine feature in Practical Performance Car is included with the history file.
