An immaculate, original, early and very rare non fuel injection Ford Escort XR3 with low miles and just two former keepers.

EXTERIOR
Finished in the perfect factory original paint of Sunburst Red this XR3 is simply stunning.  An incredible shine and unblemished gloss finish makes this example a crowd pleaser having been pampered and garaged from new. Absolutely no rust, corrosion or micro blisters the exterior of this car is incredible with only two tiny dings visible.  The optional and desirable Ford Driving Lamps were specified from new along with the expensive tilting/sliding glass sunroof with interior blind.  New dampers, springs and bushes have been fitted giving a ride height similar to the later injection model. The engine bay has had a preservation wax applied when new.  A collectors delight.
  
INTERIOR
Specified in Black Laser Trim giving the anthracite headlining the interior of this car is unmarked with no wear, rips or stains on the seats.  Incredibly the dash is not cracked and no modifications have been made from the factory build.  The first owner paid extra to have head restraint pads fitted.  All the controls work correctly including the electronic warning system which monitors brake pad wear, coolant levels, low fuel, oil and windscreen washer level.  The ‘Shark Grey’ carpets show minimal wear.  A really well preserved, unspoilt 80’s icon.  

ENGINE & TRANSMISSION
Fitted with Fords 1.6 Compound Value angle Hemispherical chamber, (CVH), engine mated to a twin venture weber carburettor this car sprints along with 96bhp at 6000rpm giving a 0-60 of 9.2 seconds and a top speed of 113mph.  A recent cam-belt kit means the new owner can simply drive and enjoy.  This car was built just prior to the model being fitted with fuel injection so comes with the later cars 5-speed transmission which is light, precise and improves long journey comfort and fuel economy. 

WHEELS, TYRES & BRAKES
Cloverleaf deep sculptured light cast alloy wheels which show minimal markings are fitted with new Pirelli P6000 185/60 R14 tyres.  The servo assisted brakes with 9.4” ventilated discs up front stop the car very quickly.

HISTORY FILE
With only two former keepers, (the last a Mr Brown who would not even drive the car after searching the country for his dream XR3), this car has led a very sheltered and pampered life.  A history file containing every MOT from new helping to confirm the very low mileage of 94,531 and all handbooks, instruction books and even a sales brochure from new.
